Ancient Greek Lap Books and Family Trees

This morning the children made some super lap books!  I printed out one for the eldest two but made my own version for the two youngest, to consolidate everything they have learnt over the past two weeks.

Here is The Boy's lovely work :)

This one is Panda Girl's.  I love it :)

Ballet Girl made a great start on hers.

As did Monkey Girl.

The two eldest made beautiful Greek god family trees.

Panda Girl made Icarus.

And The Boy made an awesome book about The Trojan Horse.

The soldiers could not get into Troy.

 So they came up with a plan to build a wooden horse in which they could hide.

The Trojans dragged the horse into the city and the soldiers peered out.

They crept out and opened the gates to let in the other soldiers.

And Troy was captured at last!

Salt Caving

Hippocrates recommended the inhalation of salty steam for respiratory issues.  Fitting in well with our Ancient Greek project as well as being good for The Boy's asthma we visited a local Salt Cave where the kiddies played and read for an hour, inhaling salt and getting well!

The end of our week also included Faith Work...

...Ballet Girl received her Power Boat Level 1 badge...

...and we had friends over to play, baked cupcakes, and between them had seven hours of dance lessons and three hours of gym.

Ballet Girl passed her Sea Cadet Navigation module for her Seamanship qualification at the Multi Activity Cadet Training weekend.  Good Girl!

She also got her first pointe shoes last week! I'm so proud of you Sweetie!

Ballet Girl and Monkey Girl's book arrived in the post!  An autumnal story aimed at younger children, Ballet Girl wrote it, Monkey Girl illustrated it, Nanny Mo edited it and we had it published it with Blurb.com.

For Sparta!

After a day of learning about Athens, we spent the morning learning about Sparta.

Primarily a state of soldiers, Sparta was the best in the war business. The Boy designed his own shield, helmet and body armour.

He did such a super job!

Monkey Girl designed her own Spartan Soldier outfit too and looked brilliant!

Panda Girl made some iron bars which the Spartans used for money instead of coins, to stop hoarding and prevent trading with other Greek city-states.

She then set up her own weaponry store and sold weapons to the Spartan soldiers...

 She sold all her weapons and made lots of... iron bars!

Everyone spent time on this great Ancient Greek site
