This started out as a heart-snake craft I created for  the Boy's Playgroup, but the girls got carried away with it and made some awesome stuff :)

 I thought a week long countdown to St. Valentine's Day would be fun.  I plan to do lots of 'Jesus loves me' type work and talk about feelings and emotions, the importance of love and (nearly!) all that goes with it.  I collated lots and lots of fun printables and made 3 workbooks each, for them to do over the coming week for whenever they feel like some sit-down time.  We started the week with some craft.  I gave them instructions to make a 'love plant' and here's what they came up with :)

Our Saturday was spent with cousins, aunts, uncles and a lovely Nanny Mo...

and Sunday was spent with great friends, in the snow.

The Regency Period and William IV

The girls finished off our Regency week with  the rest of their worksheets and some good core subject work

The Boy met Elmer the Elephant on Friday.  A good way to end the week :)

 This morning we looked at George Stevenson's 'Rocket' and the very beginning of the railways.  The girls did some extracting from sources and compared maps of railways in the British Isles from William IV to early Victoria.  They enjoyed a station role play game I set up and The Boy was in train heaven for a good while :)

Sir Robert Peel formed the Metropolitan Police in 1829, in the last year of George IVs reign.  Ballet Girl and Monkey Girl spent the morning learning the basics of forensic science while Panda Girl did a fun police project.

After lunch, they set up their Police Incident Room, complete with wanted posters, an Emergency Call Room and Forensic Kit.

Today I have three poorly children.  We did, however, make Regency bonnets and learnt the basics of the Napoleonic Wars.  After lunch the Girls did some solid English work, Faith Study and Panda Girl finished her reading book, but only Monkey Girl was well enough for her two dance lessons and gym class this afternoon.

With three under-the-weather kiddies, today was mostly about resting.  The Boy started a jigsaw craze which lasted on and off all day...

...and by 6pm they had completed 29 jigsaws :)

Ballet Girl started the day by baking a banana bread with The Boy.  She knows this by heart now and is a great teacher to her brother.

Panda Girl has been slightly off colour since the weekend.  She is a little fragile but enjoyed creating a scene for the Regency teddies she made earlier.

Monkey Girl had fun making Regency style fans and hair clips.  

Before afternoon work-time the girls donned their home-made Regency costumes and copied some Regency dances from the internet.

The Boy decided not to take his afternoon nap so we interrupted our Picture Study work to wear him out at the park.

...and then dried out on the sofa with popcorn and Regency favourite, Pride and Prejudice. :)

To kick-start our Regency Period Unit the girls made some gorgeous Regency silhouettes, complete with ribbons, bonnets and cravats.

The Boy got busy today.  Monkey Girl made him a box robot which he painted blue...

... he made some yummy fairy cakes for morning snack ...

... and some pesto twirls for dinner.  Good job Baby!

We learnt a little about The Holy Grail last week.  Panda Girl made a papier mache chalice which dried over the weekend and which she painted today.
