Ice Skating, Ancient Ruins, Bike Rides and Mucho Lego

...while Ballet Girl and Panda Girl spent the day with their friends.

We visited a local ruin which has original stonework dating back to the Normans in the 11th Century...

...chilled out with some sheep...

and spotted an old wasps' or bees' nest high in a tree.

And the rest of the week has been all about Lego.  My living room has looked like this for five days. 

First Day of the Half Term Break

Last night England and Wales were hit by a storm.  The roaring of the wind (80mph gusts reported in some areas) woke us all in the early hours.

We went to our local Forest Centre where I had booked the children into an activity, but on arrival we got rather distracted by a huge puddle.  Note to self: we need more stone skimming practice.

Apple Day was the theme and the kiddies made some cute apples...

...and they had a go at apple tasting.

 They made their apples in two parts...

...underneath were chomped on apples.

After lunch the wind died down but it was still incredibly gusty and very cold.  

We had a lovely, COLD Autumn walk with friends.

And this evening we lit our pumpkin lanterns.

Birthday Sparklers

Fittingly we ended our Autumn Unit with a surprise 21st Birthday family gathering for my youngest brother.  It turned out very Autumnal/October-y/windy/pumpkin-y and fun!

Pumpkins and a Few More Pumpkins

Today, our last day of our Autumn theme before the half term holidays, we mostly carved pumpkins and shelled pumpkins and cooked with pumpkins.

The pumpkin crumble was yummy

The pumpkin pie was not bad.

The pumpkin muffins were gross. (Too much nutmeg) We live and learn!
