Autumn

Autumn!  We do this topic every year because it offers such a wide variety of cross curricular subjects to cover and it gets us in cosy comfy mode after Summer.

The only issue today was that I have a whole bunch of poorly, worn out children who can't sleep for coughing.  

So we took it easy this morning.

Monkey Girl made her own fungus using bread, sealed in plastic bags...

...One was left in its original state and placed in daylight at room temperature and the other was soaked in water and placed in the airing cupboard.  She made some predictions about which would develop mould and how long it would take - watch this space!

The Boy made a cute owl.

Ballet Girl coughed and spluttered her way through the beginnings of an autumnal picture.

 Monkey Girl made this beautiful autumnal landscape using pastels.

And Panda Girl made some super autumn silhouettes.

 And a pastel landscape.

This afternoon we skipped trampolining lessons and Ballet Girl wrote a story.

While The Boy rested.

Ice Sliding and Blueberries

The Boy finished his Cooking Week with blueberry muffins.  Previously having measured things out for him myself, this was his first attempt at weighing the ingredients himself.

He followed Paul Hollywood's (from The Great British Bake Off) recipe and they tasted incredible!  Not all of our baking turns out well so it's always exciting to make something extra cool!

Monkey Girl enjoyed creating her scene from Oliver Twist so much that she made one for Great Expectations too.

Also this week the Duplo has been out...

...Panda Girl and Monkey Girl made shortbread biscuits...

...the kiddies played chess...

...Panda Girl went to an Ice Sliding Party...

 ...and Ballet Girl made crystals.

An Empty English Heritage Site and a Fluffy Koala Face

Today we seized the day!

We met up with my sister and her two adorable sons for a hot chocolate at a local English Heritage Site.

 We had the whole place to ourselves!

After lunch we were back to business.

The Boy made mini pizzas as part of his Cooking Week

He also requested some time to make...

...THE CUTEST koala known to man.

Panda Girl made an awesome panda for her thematic unit on pandas.

And Monkey Girl finished this amazing Oliver Twist scene, complete with all the characters.

Clever pumpkin!

Poor Ballet Girl is still unwell.  She watched Sense and Sensibility this afternoon, curled up on the sofa, which in my opinion, is THE best way to spend a rainy afternoon! Get well soon Sweetie.

Panda Girl also went to Tap Dancing and Modern Dancing today, and Monkey Girl went to Sea Cadets.
